Bio

Neven’s career can be summed up in one word: versatility. His fifteen years of experience in a variety of professional fields have established him as a well-rounded and multi-talented guitarist, music educator, and AV technician, in Toronto, Halifax, and now Freiburg, Germany. Neven holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto (2013) where he studied under classical guitarists Dr. Jeffrey McFadden and Rob MacDonald. He completed a Master of Arts in Musicology degree at Dalhousie University (2017) under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Bain and Dr. Shannon Brownlee.

As a guitarist, Neven has performed in a plethora of musical settings. He operates most often as a soloist combining classical techniques with jazz and pop influences, as well as live-looping. He performs often as a wedding guitarist and a function musician for events including weddings, receptions, dinners, private parties, and more. As an accompanist, Neven frequently accompanies vocalists and instrumentalists in classical, and non classical settings. He performed as the live band guitarist for the China Super Vocal TV series in 2016, and has worked as a session guitarist and band member for Halifax’s Tye Dempsey.

As a teacher, he has a passion for making education fun, engaging, and worthwhile. With thousands of hours of cumulative teaching experience in both private, group, and lecture settings, Neven caters each and every lesson to the audience, regardless of age, skill level, or topic. With a certificate in University Learning and Teaching from Dalhousie, he is well equipped to tackle the ever-evolving needs of the current higher education environment. Furthermore, Neven has designed and implemented music curricula in the private education sector and chaired national conferences in Music Education.

Neven is further certified as a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) instructor and specializes in immersive English guitar lessons in Freiburg, Germany.
